Omnes Capital sells its shareholding in Turtle Entertainment (ESL brand) to the MTG Group
Omnes Capital has sold its shareholding in Turtle Entertainment, the global electronic sports leader and operator of the Electronic Sports League (ESL), to the MTG international digital entertainment group.
MTG (Modern Times Group MTG AB) is a digital entertainment group that delivers platform and television channel services, online services, content production and radio stations around the world.
ESL, an e-Sports pioneer and world leader, has established itself as a top industry contender owing to the quality of its contents and products and also the event management experience it has gained over the past 15 years with brands such as Intel Extreme Masters and ESL One. Its trail-blazing role in the organisation of e-Sports events in stadia and its audience records set it apart from its rivals. ESL provides an extensive range of services in the online video games industry – event management, monetisation and production of live video content – covering all the needs of the e-Sports ecosystem. Over the past 12 months, ESL has successfully attracted over 70 million unique visitors.
Omnes Capital purchased its initial shareholding in 2009 and was the company’s first financial investor. It participated in all subsequent funding rounds, investing a total of €5.7 million.
During its six-year relationship with Omnes Capital, the company enjoyed strong growth on the back of international partnerships, strategic acquisitions and a local presence in a number of countries (offices opened in Germany, Russia, France, Poland, Spain, China and North America). The company targets €50 million in revenues in 2015.
Michel de Lempdes, Managing Director, added: “In just a few years, ESL achieved leadership in a rapidly expanding market. We are proud to be selling a leading player company with very bright expansion prospects to the MTG international digital entertainment group. In this highly attractive deal, Omnes Capital secured a valuation in excess of €100 million.”
