Omnes Capital (formerly Crédit Agricole Private Equity) has invested €4 million in the Italian company Futuris S.A. via its Capenergie 2 fund. Additional investment of up to €10 million is planned.
The Milan-based company – founded and developed by Rodolfo Danielli, former Chief Operating Officer of Italcementi and EMEA Director of Air Liquide – develops, builds and manages biomass-fired cogeneration plants.
Futuris S.A. aims to develop the equivalent of 54 MW of installed capacity between now and 2016, for a total investment of €220 million. This development plan is based on the construction of ten power stations within the framework of three stages. Three power stations are already in operation (stage 1) and three other stations received the administrative authorisations (stage 2).
This capital increase will enable the company to finance the stage 2 of its development plan.
“The involvement of Omnes Capital is a major step forward for Futuris S.A.,” comments Rodolfo Danielli, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Futuris S.A. “Omnes Capital is a well-known management company with a significant track record in renewable energies. In addition to its financial contribution, it will serve as a top-notch partner to work with us on our development projects.”
“We were attracted by the pro-active attitude of the people at Futuris S.A., Rodolfo Danielli’s strategic vision and the high quality portfolio of projects developed by the company. We are pleased to be able to work with the company in carrying out its ambitious development plan,” states Serge Savasta, Head of Renewable Energy at Omnes Capital.
This marks Capenergie 2’s 11th investment and strengthens its presence in the Italian market.

FUTURIS SPA
Futuris SPA was formed in 2009 on the initiative of a group of experienced business managers under the leadership of Rodolfo Danielli (former Chief Operating Officer of Italcementi and EMEA Director of Air Liquide). It operates the field of biomass, taking account of sustainable development issues and with a very business-led approach.
In particular, by capitalising on its management team’s professional skills and network of contacts in the manufacturing and energy sectors, Futuris:
– develops or acquires projects involving the use of forest-based biomass;
– invests in the construction of heat and power generation and cogeneration plants;
– operates power plants with a view to optimising logistics and production as part of an integrated organisational system;
The company already has operations in Italy, where its aim is to become a key player in the medium term in biomass power plants. It is then looking to expand outside Italy, primarily in the Mediterranean region.
